The first Patent was taken out in July 2006 in order to protect the discovery of the synergetic effect of two active ingredients for treating Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome. The patents were filed jointly by the Universities, academic structures employing the teacher-researchers responsible for the discovery and by an association of patients, AFM (French Muscular Dystrophy Association) which financed part of the work.
